Now, many Texas Insurance companies including, Travelers, Safeco, Liberty Mutual, The Hartford and Kemper- a Unitrin Business; now offer their customers a choice of policy periods. Along with offering a choice between 6 month and 12 month policies, companies like Kemper now offer a discount for choosing the 12 month policy over the 6 month policy.

Texas Flood Insurance on hold until Congress reauthorizes the NFIP

Texas Flood Insurance hit a snag when the U.S. Senate adjourned for the Memorial Day recess without taking action to extend expiring provisions, including extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). This means that the program expired at midnight on May 31, 2010.
